Take a close look at how you use your mind when stretching.
The mindset you use when performing the most mundane tasks is often overlooked in the wellness field. For people interested in getting healthy, pointing the microscope in this direction is often the last place one looks on their journey of wellness.
It is only after frustration with little results, or a deep desire to promote mastery does this element come up. This is unfortunate, as the way one approaches the task fundamentally changes the result one finds.
Take time to allow the mistakes to flow and be gentle in processing the results
We recently wrote about the importance of taking action as the key to finding success and in being well. To increase the chances for success from our actions, we need to pay attention to the smaller details. How we act plays a big part in the result. The starting point is to always challenge ourselves to get better. Setting this framework up right away, we inevitably get going in the right direction. That does not mean there will not be mountains to pass and many backward steps along the way. The difference is in the details of how, and not necessarily why.
Doing one stretch or movement with a mindset that is open and expanding, is worth far more than doing many by repeating the same motion. Junk miles are a waste of time. When running, making each step is important in the journey of wellness and success. Every time you do a downward dog, strive to make it the best. Especially, when you are tired…
Developing and honing this mindset opens many doors and creates the necessary foundation for all improvements to take hold and flourish. It teaches the body to trust and allow for change to be integrated.
But this path does take effort and it does not come easy right away. But when one is patient, and works slowly the results are really quite something. And you get to smile along the way…
We wish all Canadians a very happy Canada Day and best of luck this summer working on your goals with Wellness.
