The School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition offers
M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in the broad fields of basic and applied
human nutrition. Areas of interest include: basic research in energy;
carbohydrate and lipid metabolism; clinical nutrition undertaken in the
research facilities of the Crabtree Laboratories at the Royal Victoria
Hospital as well as other hospitals; and community nutrition in Canada
and abroad. The Centre for Nutrition and the Environment of Indigenous
Peoples within the School provides an opportunity to study nutritional

Chemical characterization of the growing antler of
wapiti (Cervus elaphus) and the antler products as oriental medicine has
been examined through Ph.D. program. The outcome of this study will
provide important practical information on antler for future research to
explore its biological and pharmacological characterization in both the

The College of Pharmacy and Nutrition has the
unique distinction in Canada of having both nutrition and pharmacy
graduate programs in one home, and being one of six health science
